Various
branches of NASA have used a MicroPilot autopilot in a number of
projects.
In the summer of 2002, a MicroPilot technician spent seven days
on Devon Island, just south of the Arctic Circle, as part of the
Haughton-Mars Project organized by NASA Ames Research Center.
In the fall of 2002, the Iturralde Crater Expedition (ICE 2002),
organized by NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center used a MicroPilot
autopilot in its MAGPLANE -- a small UAV used to collect data on
the magnetic signature in and around the Iturralde Crater deep in
the Bolivian Amazon.
As well, the MP2028g autopilot is being used by the
NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory to fly blimps.
In addition, the NASA Wallops Flight Facility is using a MicroPilot
autopilot as part of its Jason-1 Mission which will use a micro
spectrometer in a small UAV to collect remote sensing data from
the ocean along the California coast.
Finally the NASA Langley Research Center under the direction of
Dr. Mark Motter, Dynamics and Control Branch, is using the MP2028g
autopilot in a research project entitled - High Dimensional Control
Flying Testbed. |
