ADC | Compass | AGL | Radio Modems | 4Hz GPS | FAQ

MicroPilot offers a complete range of accessories for your autopilot needs. Whether you need exact compass headings, highly accurate altitude information, communication with your autopilot while in-flight or an analog to digital converter for additional sensors, MicroPilot has the product to fully customize your autopilot program.

ADC

Analog to Digital Converter

The MicroPilot autopilot can support four external analog to digital converters (ADC). Using ADC’s, you can display data from external sensors on the HORIZONmp ground control station.

  • Additional analog input channels enhanced data collection capabilities
  • Up to 32 channels total
  • 24 bit resolution
  • Input current - 100 pA, Chopper Stablilized
  • Instrumentation Amplifier
  • Scalable input span (bipolar/unipolar) - 25 mV, 55 mV, 100 mV, 1V, 2.5 V, 5 V
  • Built-in noise filter
  • 5 Hz sample rate
  • 3.8 x 3.2 cm

Compass

The MicroPilot compass is a three dimensional compass that compensates for pitch and roll. This accessory is useful when flying in high winds as it gives an accurate direction that the nose of the plane is pointing unlike the GPS heading which is the direction the plane is heading.

  • Provides heading information
  • Provides wind velocity and direction
  • Allows for higher tolerance of high winds
  • Provides dead reckoning capabilities
  • Provides heading information with no speed - used for hovering applications
  • 3-D aircraft capable as it provides accurate heading information even during banked flight - unlike the accelerometer based 3-D compass
  • 2.6 x 3.2 cm

AGL

The AGL board is an optional ultrasonic altimeter that provides high resolution altitude information up to an altitude of 16 feet. The AGL board allows for autonomous takeoff and landing of your UAV.

  • Highly accurate above ground up to 15 feet +/- 1”
  • Allows for autonomous takeoff and landing
  • Allows flare

Radio Modems

The base and remote modems offer flexibility with respect to frequencies, licenses, output power and regulations:

Microhard radio modems provide an excellent range (20 km for the non EU versions) and high data rates. They are license free in most areas of the world. the EU versions are power limited to 100 mw to conform to European regulations and as a result, offer less range.

Maxstream radio modems provide good range (up to 5 km for the 900 MHz version) at a very reasonable cost. The on air data rate is limited and so some features, such as user defined telemetry, are not available when using these radio modems. the 900 MHz provides the greatest range but can only be used license free in North America and Israel, for everywhere else in the world, a license is required. The 2.5 GHz radio modems can be used in most countries without a license.

4Hz GPS

MicroPilot autopilots provide cutting edge global positioning technology featuring high sensitivity and the best available in terms of accuracy, reliability, performance and cost. WIth a 4Hz update rate, this accessory gives you superior configurability and also features level-converter capability.
