MicroPilot Announces Improved LRC Enclosed UAV Autopilot

MicroPilot design teams have been hard at work improving their premier MP2128LRC long-range communication autopilot. The MP2128LRC2 is more reliable and protected than ever.

June 15, 2012 - Stony Mountain, Manitoba, Canada - MicroPilot, leader in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) autopilots, releases a new version of its already reliable MP2128LRC autopilot. MP2128LRC2's integrated and redundant long-range data communication link provides greater distance and flexibility for most UAV systems, than previously.

MicroPilot design teams have also added an enhanced power supply within the MP2128LRC2 to support a wider input voltage range. Additionally, MicroPilot updated its product's circuit board to IPC class 3 standards.

Available for both heli and fixed wing aircraft, the MP2128LRC2 contains two datalinks. These dual links give MicroPilot customers more reliability in the event one frequency is disturbed by interference. The LRC ground unit maintains its standard off-the-shelf radio modems and RC control information to datalinks. Moreover, the MP2128LRC2 1-watt data radio modem continues to provide reliable communications for telemetry and GCS-originated control at a range of 20km with directional antenna.

MP2128LRC2's small, low-weight but rugged aluminum enclosure protects the unit's sensitive electronics. MicroPilot's new MP2128LRC version incorporates its existing dual radio modems inside the enclosure, instead of outside. This added protection increases the autopilot's dependability.

Similar to the original version, MicroPilot's new autopilot solution includes a fly-by-radio modem so operators can manually pilot their UAVs to a range of about 20km. Finally, the product's redundant microprocessors provide manual control even in the event of a complete autopilot failure.
