MicroPilot Completes Building Expansion

MicroPilot’s new 5000 sq-ft production facility better services UAV autopilot customers. MicroPilot customers enjoy quicker production turn-around times, higher quality products, and better schedule availability for flight-testing.

June 13, 2011 - Stony Mountain, Manitoba, Canada – MicroPilot, leader in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) autopilots, recently completed 5000 square foot expansion of its central administrative and development headquarters, located on 40 acres of flat prairieland outside Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

MicroPilot serves a variety of clients in numerous markets around the world. Due to steady growth during its seventeen years of operation, MicroPilot facility expansion became a necessity. MicroPilot president, Howard Loewen says, “Our new larger facility fully supports our increased customer base.”

MicroPilot’s new production facility offers adequate space to house its many equipment upgrades. For instance, a $500K investment in a rotating temperature chamber and other equipment, offers better calibration during production. Additionally, the increased facility size allows MicroPilot to improve production throughput, yielding shorter production and testing times.

In addition to improving production, the expansion allows MicroPilot to better serve customers who use the facility for flight-testing. “MicroPilot now accommodates larger UAVs and hosts multiple customers simultaneously,” says Loewen. This gives MicroPilot customers greater flexibility when booking flight time. Customers also have access to a generous flight support workshop area.

MicroPilot’s North/South and East/West runways and a private test area with controlled access remain in place. And customers still have direct access to MicroPilot’s head office, production staff and Research & Development personnel during flight-testing. When questions arise, they can turn directly to hardware and software developers and test pilots on location.
