How does the LRC give me greater RC range?

Instead of transmitting control surface positions over a standard RC link, the LRC base digitizes the control signals and sends them to the autopilot, where the autopilot turns them into signals that the servos can use.

Why do I need two radio modems?

The LRC transmits RC control information over two radio modems so that you can still control your UAV in the event that one of the datalinks fails or is blocked by another user of the same frequency. Even frequency-hopping transmitters can take some time to hop to a different frequency in the event of interference.

What other reliability enhancements are incorporated into the LRC?

The LRC also has a backup microcontroller that will fly the UAV in the event of a complete autopilot failure.

Can I use the LRC with any RC transmitter?

Most popular RC transmitters work with the LRC, however there are a few exceptions. Customer support can provide you with a list of transmitters.

Does this mean I have a redundant datalink to my ground control station?

The 2028LRC only uses the second datalink for control surface deflections. The 2128LRC does provide a redundant datalink between the ground control station and the autopilot.

At what frequency is the RC information sent to the LRC?

This is set via an option in the LRC base and can be any speed up to 50 updates per second. The slower rates are for limited bandwidth radio modems that might be overwhelmed by the higher update rate.

How many channels can I control?

Both the 2028LRC and the 2128LRC allow eight channels. The autopilot can control 16 additional channels eight of which are setup to control servos and the final eight are setup as on/off switches with high side drivers.

Can I still use my standard RC transmitter as a backup?

Yes, you can. This would give you RC control over three separate frequencies.

Are there relays on the LRC?

Both the 2028LRC and 2128LRC provide eight high-side switches that are capable of sourcing eight amps total. Each is controlled separately by the autopilot from the ground control station.

What are the differences between the 2028LRC and the 2128LRC?

The 2128LRC provides a fully redundant datalink with the ground. The 2128LRC has eight ADC channels incorporated into its circuit board and is smaller and lighter.
